As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we, at VFW Post 4031, want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks and become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Vietnam, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace. We are dedicated to support of our most important National Asset.... our veterans. These hats are a VFW branded canvas style hat. The hats are a rugged canvas style having a VFW logo . The hats have a two toned embroided VFW logo. The fit is adjustable using a Velcro back band. A 100% cotton  six panel medium structured hat. Hurry up and buy only 12 left!!

Price Reduced. Our first offering is a high quality First Responders Hat. The proceeds from the sale of this hat will be donated to the La Plata County First Responders Support Fund.

The Annual Durango Cowboy Poetry Concert Program will hold some of its events at the VFW Post 4031 Main Hall. The Concerts will be held from 6PM to 10PM from September 29th to October 1.  Doors open at 5PM. There will be a children's concert on Saturday from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. 
We Need Volunteers!
The lifeblood of VFW Post 4031 are its volunteers. Without our volunteers we cannot accomplish our mission to support veterans. The following is a list of things for which we need volunteers to help us.

Veterans Stand Down and Resource Fair September 2022
There will be a Veterans Stand Down and Resource Fair on September 29th at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. Services include VA Benefits, VA Enrollment, Medicade, Health, Hygiene, Supplies. Housing Assistance, Haircuts, Clothing, Employment, Optometrist, and others. Call Greg Dotson at (970) 759-0117 for more information. Click here to get more information.

VFW Post 4031 has been the prime force behind the Veterans Day Parade for 20 some years. We would like to see this year's parade be something special. If you are an organization that would like to enter this year's parade let us know. Click here to see this year's parade application.

Margaret Copeland will be hosting a Veterans Thursday Afternoon Social Club (VTASC) on Thursdays, 4 to 6 PM. This meeting is open to any veteran desiring to join the group which meets in a relaxed social situation. Click here to see the Flyer for this event.

This year's Veterans Car Giveaway will be held soon.It was originally planned for the Veterans Benefits Breakfast on October 2nd. However this has been postponed.  Stay tuned for updates on this website. Are you ready for some football? Football is coming back to the VFW Post 4031 Lower Hall. There are 6 TVs available for the Sunday ticket. Please come down and enjoy the games every Sunday at 11AM and Monday Night Football at 6PM. Beverages and food are available for a small donation. Open to the public. See you there.     Youth Scholarship Programs
National VFW has announced this year's Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen subjects for this year. The Voice of Democracy Contest is for High School Students. The subject of the audio-essay is "Why is the Veteran Important". Here is a link to our Voice of Democracy Page. The Patriot's Pen Contest is open to Middle School Students. The Subject for this year's contest is "My Pledge to Our Veterans." Here is a link to our Patriot's Pen Page. The deadline for both contests in October 31st, 2022. Our Website Added  New Pages
One new page is called Event News and is found under the heading News. This page will contain descriptions of VFW Post 4031 Events and will feature photos taken at the events. The current events covered by the Events Page are the Fourth of July Parade, the Veterans River Float, and the Members Appreciation Dinner. Another new page is a page called Awards, under News, which shows recent awards that the Post has received. The third new page is Departmental News, under News, which shows the VFW Colorado Newsletters.

     Veterans Benefit Breakfast
The Veterans Benefit Breakfast is one of the most important events that VFW Post 4031 undertakes. The proceeds from these breakfasts directly support veterans in need. The next Veterans Benefit Breakfast will be held on Sunday October 2nd between 9:00 AM and 11:00 PM.  Breakfast is $8.00. Veterans $7.00. Children $5.00. Great food and the public is welcome.  The next Veterans Relief Committee Monthly Meeting will be held on Monday September 19th at 5:30 PM.

 Veterans Relief Committee News
The Veterans Relief Committee has disbursed more than $15,000.00 to help needy veterans. The Veterans Relief Committee along with the Elks Lodge 507 and American Legion Post 28 are hosting several events in the coming months .
